Upstander Project 15th Anniversary: How NOT to Make Films: 15 years of failures, mishaps and lessons learned

In 2024, as Upstander Project celebrates its 15th year, we’re attempting to walk the walk by getting vulnerable and honest about our shortcomings and missteps along the way. Our hope is that by practicing the transparency and openness we so frequently teach about, we can continue on our lifelong journey as aspiring upstanders and allies. The amazing team at Upstander Project is calling upon co-founders Adam Mazo and Dr. Mishy Lesser to get real with you about what happens behind the scenes, both on set and off, during a live virtual conversation and Q&A session. The discussion will be moderated by the inimitable N. Bruce Duthu of Dartmouth College, our longtime collaborator and Upstander Project board member.

Topics to explore include:

  • why Dawnland almost never saw the light of day

  • how we’ve held things together with zip ties and duct tape, both literally and figuratively

  • how ‘dad jokes’ do (and do not) support good filmmaking

  • and more misadventures inspired by your memories and questions.

Plus, take part in the live ‘How well do you know Upstander Project’ quiz featuring never before seen images!

Join us live online on June 13th at 7pm ET for a lively conversation to celebrate Upstander Project’s 15th birthday!

Join us in celebrating Upstander Project’s 15th birthday! Your generous support has supported us in amplifying silenced narratives and encouraging the modeling of upstander skills. Giving in honor of our anniversary will go towards supporting the next 15 years!
